Terms of sale and licence

Last updated 13 October 2026

These terms cover the notarized build of Many Displays sold on this site. The source code is separately available under the MIT licence, which has its own, much shorter terms.

1. The trial

You may use the app free of charge for 14 days from first launch, with every feature enabled, to decide whether it works for you. After the trial the app asks for a licence key and stops restoring windows until one is entered.

2. What you buy

A licence is a one-time purchase for one person. It lets you run the app on up to 3 Macs that you own or primarily use. If you replace a Mac, deactivate the old one from the app's licence window (or ask us) to free the slot. A licence is not transferable to another person and may not be shared or resold.

Businesses: one licence per employee who uses the app. Write to support@manydisplays.com for volume pricing.

3. Updates

Your licence includes every version released during the 12 months after your purchase, delivered through the app's built-in updater. When that year ends, the last version released within it keeps working for as long as you like, on the same terms. It does not expire, and it does not nag. Versions released after your year are not covered; if you want them, you can buy a new licence at the then-current price.

4. Refunds

If the app does not work for you, write to us within 14 days of purchase and you get a full refund, no questions asked. The licence key is then deactivated. Refunds are issued by Stripe to the original payment method.

5. Payment and taxes

Purchases are processed by Stripe, acting as the merchant of record through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe charges your payment method, issues the invoice and collects any VAT or sales tax that applies in your country. Prices shown on this site are in euros and include tax where it applies; the exact amount in your currency is shown at checkout. By buying you also accept Stripe's terms.

6. What you may not do

You may not share your licence key publicly, circumvent the licence check in the notarized build, or redistribute the notarized build itself. (Building and distributing your own copies from the MIT-licensed source is, of course, allowed under that licence.)

7. Open source

The source code of Many Displays is published at github.com/manydisplays/manydisplays under the MIT licence. Nothing in these terms limits what the MIT licence allows you to do with the source. What you buy here is the signed, notarized, auto-updating build and support, not the right to use the code.

8. Warranty and liability

The app is provided "as is". We make reasonable efforts to keep it working across macOS releases, but it depends on behaviour of macOS that Apple may change at any time, and some things (such as moving windows between Spaces) are outside what macOS allows. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future purchases. The terms that applied when you bought remain the ones that apply to your licence. Changes are published here with a new date and are visible in the site's public Git history.
